Popular Exhibitions

Victoria & Albert Exhibition - The Queen’s Gallery (until 31st October)
If you enjoyed ‘The Young Victoria’ you will love the Victoria & Albert Exhibition at the Queen’s Gallery, Buckingham Palace.

This major exhibition is the first ever to focus on Queen Victoria and Prince Albert’s shared enthusiasm for art. Bringing together over 400 items from the Royal Collection, it celebrates the royal couple’s mutual delight in collecting and displaying works of art, from the time of their engagement in 1839 to the Prince’s untimely death in 1861. The exhibition also challenges the popular image of Victoria – the melancholy widow of 40 years – and reveals her as a passionate and open-minded young woman.

Grace Kelly – Style Icon - The Victoria & Albert Museum (until 26th September)
When people think of Grace Kelly (1929-82), one of the most photographed women of the 20th century, what they usually recall is her beauty and elegance. This exhibition explores, through her surviving clothes, the story of her transformation from Hollywood actress to a princess of one of Europe's oldest royal families.

Examining her enduring appeal as a style icon, it features her film costumes, the much-publicised dresses made for her trousseau and wedding, and the French haute couture - a different kind of costume - that she required for her subsequent role as Princess of Monaco. Pre-booking is essential.

Royal Academy of Arts Summer Exhibition – Royal Academy (14th June until 22nd August)
The Summer Exhibition is one of London's longest-running art shows, now in its 242nd year. It's also the world's largest open-submission contemporary art exhibition with around 11,000 works submitted annually. This year, you'll be able to see new work by artists such as Ed Ruscha, Gillian Ayres and Tracey Emin.

Gauguin at the Tate Modern (30 September 2010 – 16 January 2011)

Gauguin is one of the world's most famous and best-loved artists from the early 20th century. For the first time in the UK in over 50 years, Tate Modern presents an exhibition dedicated to this master French Post-Impressionist, featuring paintings and drawings from around the world. His sumptuous, colourful images of women in Tahiti and beautiful landscape images of Brittany in France are some of the most popular images in Modern art.

We expect this exhibition to be very popular, so book your tickets now!

Joanna Lumley returns to the West End with David Hyde Pierce

La Bete is a comic tour de force about Elomire (Pierce), a high-minded classical dramatist who loves only the theatre, and Valere (Rylance), a low-brow street clown who loves only himself. When the fickle princess (Lumley) decides she’s grown weary of Elomire’s royal theatre troupe, he and Valere are left fighting for survival as art squares off with ego in a literary showdown for the ages.
